| All dogs should have their owners present and ready and able to assist the dog if some problem should arise while shes whelping. No whelping box, no matter how well made is going to take the place of a well informed and capable owner who knows his/her breed and the problem that could arise. We should always have a veterinarian available or know of a place to take our dogs should a problem arise. We have bred out a lot of the instincts dogs have and given them awkward shapes that makes delivering their puppies difficult so we can make them serve us better. Its up to us now see to it that we give them the best of care and we don't endanger their lives by thinking mother nature is going to take care of everything when those puppies come. A whelping box specailly designed to suit the needs of your breed is a good start. But lets not forget the benefit of education. We must be able to help our dogs if they need us. There is a lot of information out there so get some books, do some research and be ready when you momma dog is ready to whelp. May you always have great litters and healthy puppies.
